Privacy Policy
This policy explains what the BasketRun app collects, why, who it shares it with, and how you can delete it. “We” means BasketRun. If you have a question, email quwaysim405@gmail.com.
In short
- Without an account, lists stay on your phone.
- Signing in backs up your email and lists.
- The free version shows Google ads.
- We never sell your data.
Without an account
You can use BasketRun without signing in. Your catalog, prices, market runs and settings are stored only on your phone. We don’t receive them.
Reminders before market day are scheduled on your phone. They don’t go through our servers.
With an account
Signing in is optional. It backs up your lists and lets you share them with a household. When you sign in we collect:
- Your email address, to send you sign-in codes. There is no password.
- Your lists: catalog items, prices you entered, market runs and what was checked off.
- Household details: the household’s name, its members, the name you choose to show them, and your role.
- Notes and photos you add to a catalog item, so whoever is shopping can see them. Photos are kept in private storage that only your household can open.
- Your city, if you add it. It’s optional and never your address.
- Your “Share my prices anonymously” choice. It’s on by default and you can turn it off in Settings. While it’s on, we may later use your prices, without your name or email, to show average prices in your city. That feature isn’t live yet.
We use this only to run the app: to back up and sync your lists, and to share them with the people in your household.
What your household sees
People in your household see the household’s shared lists and prices, the name you chose to show them, who checked off each item, and when someone is shopping. They don’t see your email address.
Premium purchases
Premium is bought through the App Store or Google Play. Apple or Google handles payment, and we never see your card details. We use RevenueCat to confirm purchases. It receives the purchase record, meaning the product, dates and store country. It also gets an app user ID: your account ID if you’re signed in, or a random ID if not. We store whether your account has Premium and when it ends.
Location, photos and voice
The app asks for these only when you use the feature that needs them. You can refuse, and the rest of the app keeps working.
- Stores near you. When you ask to find stores, the app reads your phone’s approximate location. On iPhone, Apple Maps finds the stores. On Android, your approximate location is sent to Mapbox, which returns nearby grocery stores. We don’t keep your location. If you add a store, only its name and address are saved.
- Photos. You can take or choose a photo for a catalog item. It stays on your phone unless you’re signed in, in which case it’s uploaded to our private storage so your household can see it. Deleting your account deletes your photos.
- Voice input. The microphone is used only while you dictate items. Your phone’s speech recognition turns your voice into text, and we never receive or store the audio. On Android that service is usually Google’s and works under Google’s own policy.
Ads
The free version shows ads from Google AdMob. Premium has no ads. To show and measure ads, Google may collect your device’s advertising ID, its internet address (IP address) and the rough location that address points to, and how you interact with ads.
- On iPhone, Google can use your advertising ID only if you allow tracking when the app asks. You can change this later in Settings, Privacy & Security, Tracking.
- In the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland, and in US states with privacy laws, Google’s consent form asks for your choices first. You can change them later in the app under Settings, Ad privacy choices.
- On Android, you can reset or delete your advertising ID in your phone’s settings.
Read how Google uses information from apps that use its services.
What we don’t do
- We don’t sell your personal information.
- We don’t use analytics or crash-reporting tools.
- We don’t read your contacts.
- We don’t use your location, photos or microphone for anything except the features described above.
Who processes your data
- Supabase hosts accounts and synced lists, on servers in the United States (Northern Virginia).
- Our email provider delivers sign-in codes.
- Mapbox finds nearby grocery stores on Android, when you ask it to.
- RevenueCat confirms Premium purchases.
- Google AdMob shows ads in the free version.
- Apple and Google process payments and app downloads under their own policies.
If you live outside the United States, your data is transferred to and stored there.
Delete your BasketRun account and data
We keep your account data until you delete your account. You can delete it in either of these ways.
- In the app: open BasketRun, go to Settings, then Delete account. This deletes your account, your photos and the copy of your lists on our servers straight away. It may remain in encrypted backups for up to 30 days before those expire.
- Without the app: email quwaysim405@gmail.com from the address on your account, with the subject “Delete my BasketRun account”. You don’t need to reinstall the app. We’ll delete your account and its data within 30 days and reply to confirm.
Deleting your account doesn’t cancel a Premium subscription. Cancel it first in Google Play (Menu, Payments & subscriptions, Subscriptions) or in your Apple ID subscriptions, or you may keep being billed.
Lists you shared with a household stay with its other members after you leave or delete your account. The lists on your own phone stay there until you delete the app.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, including the EU, the UK and US states such as California, you can ask to see, correct, export or delete your personal information, or object to how we use it. Email us and we’ll reply within 30 days. We won’t treat you differently for asking.
We process your data to provide the app you asked for, and for ads, on the basis of your consent where the law requires it.
Children
BasketRun isn’t meant for children under 13, or under 16 in the EU and UK, and we don’t knowingly collect their information. If you think a child has given us information, email us and we’ll delete it.
Changes
If we change this policy, we’ll update the date at the top. If a change affects how we use data we already have, we’ll tell you in the app first.
